Crack is wack, so i stick with eye cream!

"Hello, My name is Nadia. I am addicted to Anti Wrinkle cream!"

If you know me, you know what my addictions are; coffee, working out, dessert, fashion, & anti wrinkle cream!

Yes, i know I'm only 26 years old, but its all about prevention! Last year, i was fortunate enough to afford La Prairie. (The best of the best). Then i down graded to Philosophy from Sephora. I was disappointed with results, so I took my litto happy ass down to Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills. I walk in & tell the sales lady, in a desperate cracked out voice; "I need anti wrinkle cream, Give me the best you got!"

She leads me over to Yves Saint Laurent.

The angels started to sing & the clouds opened.

The cream has mushrooms in it so it sinks into your skin & plumps it up so the wrinkles fade. The YSL sales guy gave me great advice. 1. Switch up your creams (La Prairie, YSL, La Mer) so your skin never hits a plateau by sticking to just one cream. 2. Eat beans, because they have lots of good protein, iron, and antioxidants that will help your skin your fabulous! 3. Exfoliate! Only twice a week to get rid of the dead skin cells.

We all have our addictions, dont judge me ;)

Girls just wanna have fun: IN COSTA RICA!!

My friend Mayte & I were planning a trip to NYC. Unfortunately, we both had a change of heart. And I'm so happy we did. She suggested traveling to Costa Rica & i loved the idea! So this summer we are planning a trip to Jaco & Arenal. Surfing, zip line, and discovering ourselves in the jungle will be a once in a lifetime opportunity! I am super stoked & excited for all the adventures we are going to have. Our budget is under $1,000. Flights round trip is $550, hotel is nothing, like literally $150 each person for 4 days, and food... is cheap! I'm so excited. I wanted to share with you how cheap it can be to travel to a great destination while making amazing memories with good friends. I am absolutely thrilled about having this experience & being able to find myself in a foreign land :) Here's to many more travel adventures

We're Having Fun Now

It's official but....................................I quit too!  Well, it was like a mutual thing. I didn't want them, they wanted to move me. I took the way out. And I am so happy.

Even though my life the last few months or so has been comparable to a demolition derby, I'm coming out smelling like a winner. No Charlie Sheen reference intended. Seriously.

I could not be happier right now.

It's like the song "Switchblade" by Jenny & Johnny. Don't sell yourself out. Just have fun and be true to yourself.

To me, it's not about fighting age or responsibility...I just don't want to sacrifice myself to have someone else reap the benefits. I am worth more than pennies.

In those same last few months that I've been running myself ragged, I've also been working *extremely hard* to push myself creatively, and it's very, very encouraging. I helped a friend of mine write a chapter that is now included in a best-seller book. I got the courage to write full-on short stories and actually submit them to editors and journals. I'll be able to volunteer like I've been dying to do. And I get to have the old ME back.

That above all things makes me very, very happy. And it didn't cost me one penny!

The other day Blogger was down for hours and I was in a frantic panic because I wanted to post about all these uber cute sandals that Target is selling right now:

I'm not a flip flop girl (anymore) but I can definitely dig a darling wedge. Love it!
Have a nice week :)

Happy Mothers day!

Sunday is Mothers day.

I don't know about you guys but I wish it was mothers day everyday! And lucky for me, I have Tyler who makes me feel special everyday. Although i don't have a husband who brings me breakfast in bed & gives me kisses in the morning, its okay... because at least i have Tyler who adores me very much.

My mom has horrible taste in shoes (Sorry she does). Her Budget is always limited, which is why her shoes aren't that 'in'. Its okay, Nadia's here to rescue the day! I got her these for Mothers day & the best part is, THEY WERE ON SALE!!!!!!!! From $120 to $90! I love me some Bloomingdale's!
I hope she loves them, because if she doesn't i will steal them. Happy Mothers day!

Save & Splurge

I've been going a little dress & makeup crazy the last couple of weeks. I am leaving to VEGAS this Wednesday night after school!! I can't wait! I need a break. And from one desert to another, I shall transform into a whole 'nother person.  This person lives and stays in Vegas, and never makes it back to LA. She wears short dresses and stays up for like, 3 days straight lol

ANYWAY now that my secrets are all out...

I wanted to share the mix and the match - I think you can find good products at any price point. Here are some of my faveys!

Rimmel Glam Eyes Mascara
I love this mascara! I love the brush and I love the pink and I LOOOOVE the little coronita on the wand ^_^  I think I've even got a little princess in me. Can you believe it?!  It's so cheap. I LOVE Rimmel mascara. I used to buy really expensive mascara at Sephora or Nordstrom, wherever I could find it. But honestly this works just as good if not better. $4

NYC Brow/Liner Pencil
So yeah...it's only 99 cents. If you know me I am obsessed with nicely filled in brows. I don't really care if you choose a Kardashian arch or a more modest Desperate Housewife brow, but this baby really comes in for me when I'm in a pinch. Again, I used to use really expensive brow powder and brow pencils, and then I found this.  I pair it with this:

Ziba Brow Set (Wax)
It's $11, which is kind of pricey, BUT most places do a special where you buy 2 products and your brow wax is free. So you can get a pretty eye shadow and some brow wax, and sometimes you get a 3rd item free or at least your brow job is free. That works for me! I LOVE FREE.

I took a chance and ordered a lip color online. This is Sephora brand's cream lip stain. I AM TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH THIS! The color is so rich and dreamy. I tore open my package today and tried it on right away. I am trying to take a picture in a good light but my face keeps coming out all dark and grainy so you cant see my lips. womp womp. $12.

I ordered some other goodies from Sephora too, like my regular powder compact, and some highlighter/shimmer, and some spray primer. But my favorite thing as a Beauty Insider is that you get free samples with every order!  So I chose perfume samples, because these are perfumes I'd normally never buy the whole bottle but wouldn't object to receiving as gifts (hint hint)

That's all I have time for now. Thanks for reading!

There is no therapy, like RETAIL THERAPY!!!

Since i haven't been myself lately. Sunday afternoon i decided that maybe it was time i saw some sun light (stop looking like a twilight cast member) & I go make myself a little happy. So what better place to go then to Bloomingdale's in Santa Monica!

Someone once told me; 'Its not about buying cheap things, its about buying smart! About buying expensive things on sale that have value'. Guess he was right because it lead me to my next purchase.

I had just purchased Sam Edelman sandals for my mom for mothers day & was walking out when i saw 'THE PURSE''.

First of all, no one should ever pay retail prices, especially in this economy. I understand luxury never goes on sale but, its the recession! Something luxurious must go on sale. I saw this quilted Marc Jacobs purse that i have been desperately wanting to buy, & it was in the 'Sale' section!!

I pause & tell Tyler: 'Hold on a second!'.

He yells; 'Maaaa! I wanna go home! I'm going to sit over here & play my DS' ( I think to myself that all males are the same. FML)

So I ask the lady, 'Excuse! Is this one sale???'.

She looks at me with a sparkle in her smile & twinkle in her eyes & says; 'Why yes it is!'. (she sounded like my fairy Godmother that i never thought existed)

She then continues; 'Are you a Bloomingdale's insider?'...

Me: 'YES!!'...

'Well, i can also give you $50 off your purchase'.

It was then that the Angels from heaven sang, & i bought myself a Gorgeous Quilted Marc Jacobs purse! :D

It didnt make me as happy as i thought it would. Maybe next time i need to drink more Vodka to kill the pain, but aside from that... I LOVE MY PURSE!!!!! I saved $170 bucks! F-ING AWESOME!

I know the picture looks small. But the purse is a good size! The chain is Gold, & the buckle on the front says Marc Jacobs. Happy Saving!

I Refuse

This is NOT a political blog but I wanted to share something with you that just surprised the hell out of me. By now this is probably OFN* but I just couldn't believe this:

Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, said minorities earn less than white people because they don’t work as hard and have less initiative.

“We have a high percentage of blacks in prison, and that’s tragic, but are they in prison just because they are black or because they don’t want to study as hard in school? I’ve taught school, and I saw a lot of people of color who didn’t study hard because they said the government would take care of them.
Kern said women earn less than men because “they tend to spend more time at home with their families. (SOURCE)

Now, many people try to deny that racism and sexism still exists in this country and that minority groups should get over it, blah blah blah, but as someone who is both biracial (I am for all intents & purposes - black & white) and a woman, it is so disheartening to hear a woman in this time make comments like this. I've taught school. Good lord, I would never want a person like this teaching my children. This is just so outrageous and I've been beside myself ever since I heard about this news story.

I love my country and I am so thankful I live in a society where I am free to speak my mind and I acknowledge that Rep. Kern also has her same freedoms, but I refuse to accept her oppressive hate speech. Aside from her vitriolic diatribe, keep in mind that she is an elected official and her views and ideologies would tend to be carried over into her constituency. So this means that the people who voted her into office most likely feel the same way as she does about blacks and other minorities in this country.  Now try to tell me that racism and sexism doesn't exist...I don't think so.

Now what can anyone do to solve this problem? I don't know. I haven't ever known what to do about racism; all I can do is just hope that one day the people who have this sort of hate and ignorance in their lives have some sort of wakeup call and realize that just because it's "white" doesn't make it "right."

I hope no one is offended by this but I am just speaking my mind about something relevant and important to me! :)
