The Annenberg Space for Photography

I love photography. I always have. In high school, i took a photography class and i absolutely fell in love with it.

The Annenberg Space for Photography is this amazing place that showcases works of various photographers. They recently had a Beauty and Culture exhibition, which they showed photography of how beauty has influenced our culture, good and bad. They are now closed and they are reopening on December 17th for the 'Digital Darkroom' exhibition. Each artist will showcase works of digital techniques in photography.

If you haven't been, i would definitely recommend going to one of the exhibitions. Its a great place to go get lost in for a few hours. Entrance is free and parking, i believe is like $3 bucks.

Product Review: Forever 21 Flare Leg Jeans

Let me preface this by saying that it has literally been years since I've worn anything but skinny jeans, so when I tried on a pair of these Flare Jeans from Forever 21, I was a little nervous.

I haven't worn flared jeans since junior high when the Mudd jeans had those little stripes on the side.  They are so old that I can't even find them in a Google Image Search (HA!).

Well...I did it. And I LOVED THEM. They fit really nicely and they are long enough so they don't float at the top of my shoes like most jeans...and the true test...the butt test ;p Perfect!  I bought a pair in "Rust" and I loved them so much I bought a second pair in Black a few weeks later.

They are only $19.50, come in MANY colors, and I believe go up to a size 31.  They run just a little big so if you are in between sizes, I would suggest the size down.  Even after a wash and dry they still fit the same way. LOVE.  I even wore them a few times and they didn't stretch out like those Old Navy jeans I reviewed a while back.

Online they don't have many sizes, but there are plenty in both of the stores I bought mine at.

Next time you turn your nose up at inexpensive jeans, consider them for once ;)  I don't regret it!

Must Have the Precious!

Like the title?  Nerd alert! ;)

I went to H&M this afternoon to look for a belt, but I found these little lovelies instead --

No online shopping, unfortunately, but at least H&M is in the States!  I chose the second ring in cream, but it comes in Cerise or Black as well.  The first ring is also available in different colors too (black or green).

It's almost time for Holiday shopping!  These would make great stocking stuffers, or just a nice inexpensive gift for a girlfriend :)

Recycle: Clothes the Loop

Thrifting: nearly every fashion/"lifestyle" blogger does it. What makes it so special? I would suspect that digging through heaps and heaps of other people's toss-aways doesn't sound so appealing to everyone. But when you have a great stores in LA to shop at - St Vincent de Paul's, Crossroads, American Vintage, Jet Rag, and (dare I say it) Buffalo Exchange - it's hard not to enjoy it!

Other awesome thrifting finds include: wool pea coats, vintage slips (full and half), vintage Dooney & Bourke cross-body bag, Kate Spade silk scarves, sets of china, antique tea set, tea pots, et cetera, et cetera.

The best part is that mostly everything is under $40. The clothes range typically between $3 - $20, dishes $1 - $10, furniture...depends on the store.  Sometimes you'll leave empty handed, sometimes you'll want to buy everything in the store!

And with great sites like etsy.com, vintage shopping got easier especially if you don't have a great store nearby.  Just don't get ripped off and end up on Regretsy ;)

Versace for H&M!

When i was little, i used to watch the fashion runway show coverage. I had no idea what was going on, but one thing i did know: It was love at first sight.

This was the world i belonged in.

My sisters and i would dress up and do runway shows of our own.

One of the first house runway shows i ever saw was Versace. Gianni did fabulous work. But.... since Gianni's passing, the FE-ROSH' Donatella has since then stepped up to the plate.

On November 19th, H&M will be releasing a Versace line. Some of the Items are a little to "Gotti" Mob wife for me, but they're are a few pieces i fell in love with.

If you know me, you know that i have written in journals since i was 12 years old. I have tons of journals. I'm not a "dear-journal' type of writer, its more to express the series of emotions that i go through with big and small moments in my life.

Two years ago, my sister bought me this journal from Papaya Art. I think their stuff is so unique and fabulous! Its made for the type of girl who appreciates art, goes against the grain, expresses herself without saying 'sorry', and lastly, for the girl who dances to the beat of her own drum.

Thanksgiving attire

I love the holidays. Love the b.s., the fake kisses on the cheek to people you see everyday, the small talk, the petty gossip, my mother's yelling on how i need to get my life straight, and of course the wine! ;) I'm all over that!

This year, my immediate family will be getting together. Since i don't want to look like a homeless hooker while drinking my wine on thanksgiving... i thought of the perfect cozy outfit to get perfectly drunk in....

Its so cold, my ______ are hard!

There is nothing i hate more than being cold!!

Okay, they're are a few things i also hate: Pumping gas, folding clothes, guys who are stupid, warm coffee & bad food.

This past weekend, i had a few things come up and i wanted to look my best. I have been needing a coat for a while, but i haven't had the time to go shopping for one.
I am very picky.

Most people look at coat sizes and price tags when they shop, I on the other hand, read labels! I'm always looking for coats that are made with 80% wool.

I'm well aware that i am broke! And understand that these types of coats aren't cheap. But i also don't want to compromise my warmth for a few dollars. (Okay, okay.... a few hundred dollars)

I fell in love with this amazing coat by All Saints....




I also fell in love with these awesome riding 'over-the-knee' boots by Sam Edelman! I must have these boots & this coat! Its Nadia's winter must have!

Unfortunately, the coat is $495.00. And the boots are $299.00. :/ (i don't know why i was born with expensive taste) But- maybe i can cut the grocery bill by $25 bucks? :(

Shabby Chic

Eeep! Sorry for the severe lack of updates recently. I feel like the next few weeks will result in another drought (we are in LA after all haha)... Uni transfer apps are due this month, and I also have a few research papers due this month....and just life in general (Thanksgiving, upcoming Holiday Party...etc!)

 Today I had a little time to play around on Polyvore and created a set where everything is $40 or less. The skirt is from Top Shop ($20), the tights are from Anthropologie ($14), the shoes can be found on LuLu's or any similar site (at or under $40), and the bag is from Dorothy Perkins ($40). The lipstick is M.A.C. "Frou" (it's beautiful!!!).  And the floral shirt can be found at any mall store for about $15 or any thrift store for $4 - $10.



My favorite thing, of course, are the shoes. I am on the lookout for a comfy pair of brown oxford peep-toe wedges. I don't like buying peep-toe shoes sight unseen because I don't know how my toes will look in them!  But you get the general idea of the outfit. 

Tights under a mini-skirt are a fall staple.  You can make the outfit warmer by layering on a cozy cable knit cardigan in any neutral color (grey, black, cream, taupe) or any color popped from your outfit ;).  If you do go bold in your outfit, I would suggest a neutral face...maybe a shimmery natural eye, heavy mascara, nude lip.  Pretty and fresh =)
