Who Doesn't Love an Inspiration Post?

Other titles I considered: Pretty in Pink (too boring), Bardot Beauty (too literal), Lazy Blog Day (nailed it!)

Anyway I was playing around on Polyvore while watching Valley of the Dolls and avoiding doing homework and I was looking at Sharon Tate but thinking about style icon Brigitte Bardot. Strange how that works, right?  No disrespect to the late Tate, but I'm just being honest :)
Well anyway...thinking about Brigitte got me playing around with the idea of a monochromatic pink outfit, preferably with items less than $50 each. This is what I came up with:

How did I do? I wish I won a prize.  Pink is a nice neutral when worn well. It's not so much as Barbie as it is extremely feminine, but there is nothing wrong with that, right?

I've been fighting the shopping bug SO HARD the last few months. But an outfit like this could certainly change my mind!

Here's to honoring New Year's Resolutions. Womp womp.

A gem: In Huntington Park!

I kinda feel like a jerk. I found this amazing cute little fashion store by my house and i havent written about it, due to the fact that i dont want this store to blow up into something super awesome because i dont want them to raise their prices. LOL.

Yes, i know i suck! But i'm writing about it now arent i? LOL.

This store is called D N Dollar. Yes! the name says: "ghetto" written all over it. I have no idea why they named it that. But you have to trust me on this one. This place is a gem. Every time i come here, i walk out with something. Usually under $20 bucks.

I got myself this cute blazer for $13 bucks and this sheer floral top for $11 bucks! (No, i'm really not kidding about the prices! its really that cheap!) The fanny pack/belt was $12 bucks.

This silk block colored top is $10 bucks and the loose pants are $18

The sheer floral print top is $10 bucks, and i'm wearing it with the tanned blazer thats $13 bucks.

This blazer was my favorite! Its $22 bucks. I didnt buy it because i already have a white linen one, and i'm on a 'cup-a-noodle' budget :(

I loooooooove this clutch!!!! Only $20 bucks!

I also love this turquoise one, also for $20 bucks.
If you're ever in the Huntington Park area, you must stop by this store. Below are the details.

D N Dollar || 6623 Pacific Blvd || Huntington Park, CA 90255 || 323.581.7227

Hope you find something GORGEOUS for $10 bucks!

Nadia

Happy Valentine's Day...and more!

Whether you're single, married, dating, "it's complicated," or what have you, you should send out an hysterical e-card via someecards.com. They are not for the easily offended, and believe me there were soooo many I wanted to choose instead of this one, but you can browse them all here and laugh your ass off.

Today is the Everybody, Every Wear: Pink & Red challenge!  If it were up to me, and if the weather was cooperative, I'd wear something like this:

Pink + Red | Everybody, Everywear

But it's cold outside! And I'm sick (wahh). So maybe I'll still wear my red raincoat and find something nice and pink to wear for EBEW & Vallytines Day.

Broke Summer 2012

Who the hell are we kidding when LA peeps say: "I cant wait for summer". Summer is every other weekend for us. We are blessed with amazing weather.

I am starting the year off strong and i feel so good. Its going to be an amazing year and i am one happy gal. I am planning a 'cousin/sister' Vegas trip on the first weekend of June and i am searching for 'HAWT' swimsuits that wont break the bank. I found this amazing swimsuit at Victoria Secret that i am splurging on, but the second swimsuit has to be one on a budget.

The top is $62 FREAKING DOLLARS (FML) and i want to buy fuchsia colored bottoms that have 'minimal' coverage. Isnt it hawt?

So for my second 'broke' budget swimsuit, i did some research and i found this AHHHHHHMAZING cute swimsuit from H&M. I fell in love! I am no Victoria Secret model, (i'm more on the thicker latina side) but.... isnt it gorgeous????

(H&M $12.95 per piece)

I have always wanted a one piece, but i have never found one that i liked. Luckily for me, i found this awesome 'MIA' inspired one piece. I found it at F21 for $22.80!!

Out of both 'budget friendly' swimsuits... my pick is the one at H&M. The fit was perfect. And so was the price! Cheers to not breaking the bank for summer!

Nadia

Happy Friday ~ Some (more) Blogs to Follow

Hello and welcome to the weekend!  It's finally Friday! Hooray. Looking for any new reading materials?  Here's some that will hopefully enlighten you and delight your fancy ;)

-----

Up first on the bill is Mind, Body, and Soul:  Creating and Living in a world full of Peace, Love and Gratitude

Jenna states on her "about me" page, "My Blog is a way for me to express how I feel and think! It is my journey of healing, nuturing and educating myself and those who read my writing!  This is what I have the most passion for– The Mind, Body and Soul."

Her posts are edifying and inspiring. Take a moment out of the day for yourself for a little bit of meditation with Jenna!

Next up we have the ever-so-lovely HollyDolly.

Holly Keenan is a hockey-loving, cutie-pie fashionista who is also a very talented DIYer :)  I cannot wait to try this heart patch DIY. Her posts range from wedding planning, daily style inspiration, crafting, and updates about her Etsy shop. You should definitely "like" her page on Facebook if that is how you keep updated on your daily blog feed!

-----

Last but not least is a (new to me) blog called A Jaded Life. I stumbled across her blog just in the past day thanks to Independent Fashion Bloggers.

It's a fun blog written from the land down under. I love the images and her fashion insight.  I'll admit, when I read her blog I am narrating it with an Aussie accent in my head. A little silly but it works for me ;)  Again, like her page on Facebook if that is how you K.I.T. with your blog roll!

That's all for now. Don't forget to enter our giveaway! The end date has been pushed back to Tuesday, February 14th at 3p.m. PST due to work and school obligations. So hop to it!

Product Review: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Polish

I'm no polish expert. I usually leave it up to the manicurist to pick a color that would look suitable for me...but lately I have been doing "home manicures" even though I suck at painting my own nails.

I can't stomach paying upwards of $8-10 a bottle, but at Target I found this line by Sally Hansen called Xtreme Wear Hard as Nails nail color for a whopping $2.64.
img source: sallyhansen.com
This line comes in so many fun colors: bright pinks, deep blues, and mellow yellows, just to name a few.
From left to right: Fuchsia Power, Crushed, Purple Potion, Blue Me Away, Mint Sorbet

Inspired by this post on the California Girls blog, I decided to do a little multi-color paint job on my nails. Keep in mind, I am not a professional!  I usually let the extra polish peel off my skin on its own instead of messing with nail polish remover and risk messing up my paint job heh.

See? Messy!
The color is super saturated and the polish goes on just as smoothly as OPI or Essie polishes. But for the price of one of those bottles, I got 5 of these Sally Hansen colors :)  So far I love them. I don't have any problems with them chipping when I use a top coat. A popular top coat is Seche Vite but I just use NYC $1 top coat with no problems.

Bright colors!
I highly recommend giving it a shot. And if you don't like your results, you can send me your bottle ;)

Until next time ♥ ♥ ♥

In Wonderland: Surrealist Adventures of Women Artist

I LOOOOOVE modern art. I love going to see art exhibitions, even if i go alone. I simply just get lost in it. I was recently at the LA Art show of Modern Art alllll by my lonesome self! It comes as a surprise that i have never been to LACMA. (not kidding). I've always said that I've wanted to go and Ive never made time for it, until now.

LACMA is doing an art exhibition on 'Surrealist Adventures of Women Artist' from Mexico and the US. This is such a great time to see the beautiful works of amazing women who have modeled the way we view art and life, and who have influenced women today! The exhibition captures works from the 1930's-1960's.

The exhibition started January 29th and runs through May 6th. I am buying my ticket and taking my litto happy butt over this next Saturday. I'm sooo excited. Take a friend, your mother, your sister, or someone. But just GO!
