Color Wonderful!

So, I guess I'm just now tapping into that rebellious side that has been repressed for so long...I mean, when I was a teenager the craziest thing I did was not do my homework a few times -__-  But I digress...

I have always wanted to have crazy hair colors. I was always so envious of performers like Gwen Stefani who proudly rocked their "alt" coifs, but now that I have no corporation to answer to, I can do whatever the flip I want ;)

Here is my plan:

The top picture is for color placement. I love the highlights in the front but on the bottom half of the hair. My current hair color is black with some of my tips in the bottom layer of my hair dyed green.

The second photo is the color (candy) pink I want highlighted in my hair, and the sea-foam green is the second color I'd like perhaps blended in. Kinda watermelony? Whatever. I dig it like a shovel.

I'm in contact with a salon in the South Bay and if they have read through my neurotic Facebook message, then kudos to them...and if they're up for the challenge then so am I!

Excited  ♥♥♥♥

'Say it with me- COOOOOLA!"

I looove my waxer, Andrea.

Like- i adore her.

She held my hand when i first got waxed (TMI) and has been there for years listening to me talk about my random stories. (I must bore her. LOL).

She recently opened up a new store front, that is absolutely fabulous and super chic.

I love it.

When i went to see her last week, she gave me this AHHHHMAZING body lotion bar.

Its called "COOLA", not sure what that stands for, but it smells divine! Like i want to eat it. And the quality is so great. Its been voted one of Allure's favorite beauty product. Its priced at $22.00, but I'm sure you can find it on Amazon or you can also go to my favorite waxer in the whole wide world, Andrea. And buy it from her.

You can find her here

Anyway- try this beauty product and I'm sure you wont go back to lotion.

Bead Me Up, Scotty!

Source: Honestlywtf
I have been wanting to make my own friendship bracelets for a long time now. I really like the simplicity of them, and they just remind me of my childhood, especially summers spent away from school friends, and the anticipation of trading bracelets when we were back in school.

I LOVE the bracelet DIYs on honestlywtf.com - and the embellished friendship bracelet tutorial is the best!

I guess what I'm going for is a mix of the two styles, similar to bracelets I already own -

The teal bracelet has crimp beads along each cord, and is embellished with small silver hearts and beads. This was from Target and purchased at $4. The other bracelet is round, plastic lanyard cord, embellished with different beads and charms. The square silver beads are separated by little knots. This one I got at a little mall store for $5. Each bracelet has three "strands" so to speak.  I think I could do that, and many more, for a fraction of the price!

Supplies are from Joann craft store. Embroidery floss in about 2 dozen colors, heart charms, leaf charms, silver beads, etc. I am excited!  I wanted to go bead crazy but thought I would just start small.

I figure I could make myself some, and if they're good enough then that's what everyone's getting from me from now on lol ;)

Wish me luck!

Spring it On

Even though my brain is on a constant one-track mind for summer, I still appreciate the spring season for things like this:

Cool eye makeup!
I can't even do a proper cat eye, yet she can do amaaazing things with eye shadow and liner.

Country Living
Yeah...it's a little late for Easter, but it's still a really cool DIY.

Coral & Floral
Now this is how you dress for spring!

Sun Kissed by Sally Hansen
I broke a nail while riding in CicLAvia!  If you're in LA the weekend of Oct. 14, you should definitely join in the fun. We rode for nearly 20 miles. And it was beautiful!

As usual, lack of posting = so busy with school. Thanks for stickin' it out. My spring break was still so crazy! I didn't even have time to catch up on anything -__- Not even my DVR!

Time to get back to work.

Sassy, flossy, and everything in between

Yay!!! I finally have Internet!

So- on to the good stuff.

I have a Vegas trip planned for the first weekend of June that i still have to buy stuff for.

I need to buy 'HAWT' heels for this 'cousin/girls' getaway, as this might be the last crazy fun thing i do before i give up my social life.

I am absolutely, passionately, in love with Sam Edelman. He makes great shoes!

I found these two AAAHHHHMAZING pumps that i am dying to have (insert: MAJOR SHOE ORGASM). The turquoise pump is called the 'Marina', priced at $130.00, and the yellow neon pump 'Lorissa', is priced at $200.00 (EEEEKKKKK!) FML.

I cannot decide which one to buy!

I haven't bought myself anything nice in a very long time, and i think i deserve it!  Which ones do you vote for? HELP!!

May the Odds be Ever in Your Favor

I read the books and had minimal expectations for the film but I must say that I was really impressed by this adaptation of The Hunger Games!  I don't know if they nominate these sorts of films for Academy Awards, but Jennifer Lawrence was fantastic as Katniss Everdeen, as was the rest of the cast.
source
There are so many things I'd like to comment on and analyze but I really don't want to spoil it for anyone who has not read the books but plans on watching the movie. I implore you...read the books if you can! But if you just want to see the movie, do it!

source
One thing I especially loved from the film was the use of color in the fashions, distinguishing the people from the "poorer" districts from those who live in the Capitol. There is quite a bit of social commentary that might be lost on some of the younger audience members, but I'm sure many people appreciate the satire.

I'd like to see this again, if anyone is up to it!

Happy Hunger Games!

Nadia's Tips: LA Marathon

Yes, i have survived my very first LA Marathon. I honestly thought i would never try to do another marathon again, but.... i think I'm addicted!!

I trained so hard for this marathon, so why stop running? I should just continue and try to beat my own time. I finished at 5 hr 30 min. I feel that if i got leaner and lost 10 lbs, i can cut my time by about 45 minutes next year.

My tips for first time Marathon runners:

"Never put a price tag on a good pair of running shoes"-Dad. I don't have many memories of my dad, but the best advice he ever gave me was to never try to 'save' money on shoes. Go to a running store and have them recommend a pair of shoes. You will not regret it. This is essential for a very successful marathon and will prevent so many injuries.

Cut out the fat! I am so guilty of this and i wish i didn't have such a strong sweet tooth. I have cookies everyday. NOT KIDDING. It is my weakness. You need to truly cut out all the bad food. You are what you eat and when you are training; eating healthy makes a world of a difference in your performance.

Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. When you're in training, and you're doing long distance runs once a week and also working out at the gym, sooner or later, it will catch up to you. Rest your body. I made the mistake of not resting my body and i felt exhausted a week prior to the marathon.

For you first time runners, you will learn that running changes your 'bowel movements'. It's embarrassing! (Trust me, i know!) If you normally don't eat at 6 am in the morning, DON'T! Because when you're running for over 3 hours, it increases your movement. If you do eat that early, when you're in training make sure its something light. I know this is TMI, but i went from being a 'once a day/every other day' type of girl, to being a 'FOUR-TIMES-A- DAY' type of girl. So watch what you eat before your run because you don't want to be the person that poops their shorts :/

BODY GLIDE, BODY GLIDE, BODY GLIDE! Once you start running for long periods of time, you might start to chafe. You might get blisters in places you didn't know you would get blisters and you will bleed. Rub body glide all over those areas, so you wont bleed.

Social Drinker? = Big problema! I am a very active social drinker. I consider myself an alcohol connoisseur. Drinking while in training dehydrates your body soooo much. For those of you who cannot give up the booze, FEAR NOT! Just cut back, and make sure you drink more than 80 ounces of water a day.

And lastly- Have fun! Give it 100% and just have fun! The feeling of crossing that finish line is truly indescribable. You feel like you can do anything. As cheesy as that sounds, its true. Running marathons is such a huge physical accomplishment. Aside from the obvious- its not about how much physical endurance you have, its about how much wear and tear you can take!

If any of you decide to run a marathon one day, feel free to ask me for tips and questions! :)

Thanks for reading!

Nadia
