That 70s Post (part 2)

As some of you may remember, I am obsessed with Three's Company. It is by far my favorite comedy still to this day (Cosby Show, I Love Lucy, and Roseanne are all tied for second).

So I was so excited when I was invited to a 70s themed party in Hollywood, and I didn't want to do a cheesy groovy hippie, flower power, white disco look...but more like this:

easy hair || source
soft makeup || source: makeupforlife
kinda diggin' the socks with shorts look || slums of beverly hills
Target Haul || Rimmel lipstick, shade 12 by Kate Moss
I'm gonna put on my mood ring, paint my nails, and I'm ready to go! My hair is a curly mess right now but I hope that it will be nice and smooth for the party :)

How I'll Spend My Summer Vacation

marilyn & whitman || source: biblioklept
I told you reading is sexy!!!

I've got several dozens of books to read and this summer is going to be, hopefully, the time I knock them all out.  This past month I was introduced to the AMAZING John Green and read his latest Young Adult novel The Fault in Our Stars. The book is not without its own faults...but it is still SO GOOD. Highly recommended:

So on my new, ever-changing, short list of TO READ:
Support your local library! Meet me at the beach! We'll have a reading date with loads of Coke Zero, cold watermelon, and sunscreen SPF 70  ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

America, the Beautiful

I am unabashedly (perhaps surprisingly?) in love with my country. I know we are not perfect but I would not trade my life to live anywhere else in the world (OK maybe if I could have my own private island where nothing ever went wrong and I had an abundance of everything I needed....but there's no such thing as UtopiaWorld).

SO!

When I got the mailer from Urban Outfitters, which, in all honesty I usually delete, I JUMPED at the chance to browse their new "Americana" section. Hmmm, just in time for Independence Day, maybe?

If I had the dinero (hehe) I would have chosen this lovely number by Betsey Johnson. It is way out of my "acceptable" price range ($158) but it is SO CUTE and not a literal translation of Americana such as what I did choose:

The scoop-neck dress is by BDG and when I saw it I knew I had to have it. I only thought about it overnight and when I got confirmation that it was a good-buy from my bff first thing this morning, I ran straight to my laptop and clicked "HELLZZ YEAH!!!" on the Urban Outfitters website, and so now it is on its way to my house (available online only).

You can view the rest of the women's Americana collection here on their website.

I hope you find something fun and patriotic to wear :D

Michael Kors Tote

Afternoon Quikie!

I am absolutely in love with this tote. I am not a label whore. Wow! I almost believed that one. LOL. No- seriously... i dont like labels. I think it looks tacky. However, i love this MK tote (minus the MK logo chain). This tote is priced at $278.00 and it comes in black, nude, tangerine, and a mustard yellow. All the totes are gorgeous! This is definitely a splurge, but a well spent splurge only because this style will last you a few seasons.

It's Nadia approved! Go get yours today!

Hot for Neon

Hello my beautiful lovelies!

Its been forever! I have been working so much, and i am so exhausted that the only thing keeping me up is Coke Zero (Its like Crack!).

As I've mentioned before, i am going on an all-girls trip to Vegas next weekend and its the very first time i go with a group of girls. (YAY!! For me!) ;D

Growing up- i have always been crazy about Neon. Especially being a 90's kid, i was into the 'Saved by the Bell' fashion. (I desperately wanted to rock the look of Kelly Kapowski, sad but true). Being a 9 year old with no money, my neon craze went sour (FAST!)... and it just looked horrible on me.

But now- things sure are changing! ;D .... I hope ;/

I thought of this awesome 90's Neon theme as one of my outfits for Vegas. I'm thinking hot pink high waisted neon skirt and a black bustie-aid. I know what you're thinking: 'Selena goes Neon?'

But trust me, this look will work. I bought this really cute skirt in downtown LA for $35.00 bucks and i also got a black bustier i found in Huntington Park for $15.00 bucks. I bought some nude slingback pumps at Marshall's for $32.00 bucks (Yes!! i just recently discovered Marshall's) to match and i think i got the perfect outfit. Now- finish it off with a high 'runway' bun, and I'm good to go!

Thoughts?

Writer's Block

Its been a while since i last wrote. I feel so disconnected from the world. Its late- and I'm up going through lots of websites... thinking... thinking... thinking.. of what to write to my beautiful lovelies...

Have you ever had one of those days/moments in life when you're overwhelmed with so much activity from life and you just want everything to freeze? So you can have a moment to breathe and take it all in? Yeah- i kinda feel like that.

I want to write about beautiful, artsy, fun, creative things for you! Any ideas? What inspires you? What makes you smile? What do you want to read? After all- This blog was meant for you. Yes, YOU! <3

Any ideas, or suggestions? Feel free to comment....

Until then- I will come up with something awesome and amazing. I lost my thought- but i will write something brilliant that will make you smile, I promise :))

Heels & kisses,

Nadia

Some Tumblrs to...Tumbl?

I usually suggest blogs to follow but here are some Tumblr sites I started following recently and LOVE -

Animals Talking in All Caps
click photo to enlarge!
It's pretty self-explanatory: animals talking in all caps. Seemingly innocuous photos of animals with hilarious captions, written in capslock. Brilliant.

I don't have a photo for this one because this Tumblr is user-submission-driven, and I didn't want to bother with getting permission from said submitters...however if you're into fitness and witnessing other people achieve their goals then look no further than Before & After Weight Loss Pics.  These photos are truly inspiring and keep me on my own workout regimen.

My third and final Tumblr to follow is Bon Iver Erotica. It's written by three women who came up with the idea one night as they were giggling and chatting as bffs are wont to do. You know...when you come up with those brilliant ideas but you never do anything with them because you don't think people will "get it?"  Just do it. If you love something and think it's a good idea, just do it. Because if you do it with your whole heart you'll get something amazing like this:

Bon Iver Erotica: who's bonny bear?
Do you have any Tumblr pages that you just can't live without in your feed? Let us know!

Shop Around the Corner

Well last week my blogging started out very promising, but then I got very busy and very tired. Nadia is working hard for the money and I'm winding down to the last few weeks of the semester. Finally!

I had a little bit of time to shop yesterday since I thought I was going to need some clothes to wear to go out. I didn't end up going out because I had too much homework -__-  But I digress.

I went to F21 first after an unsuccessful run-through at Salvation Army & Goodwill. I tried on several pieces but ultimately fell in love with these shorts. They fit perfectly and they are so fun:

Black & white striped shorts, Forever 21 - $12.80
Sorry for the crappy phone picture; I forgot that I lowered the megapixels on my camera and now I really don't feel like re-resetting, especially since I have broken my nail.  Again. For the second time. Just after I got it fixed:

I have been growing out my nails, but I broke my middle finger nail when I was closing the back window of my truck; it was a clean break so I saved the tip and glued it on when I got home. Well, it broke off again so I went to the nail salon and got a fake tip glued on for $3 extra on top of my manicure price. And today, it flipping broke off again. So I'm pretty annoyed. But that's another digression.

I went thrifting in hopes of finding a cool Mod style dress and a denim jacket. But this is pretty much what I found:

American flag vintage silk scarf $2; Michael Jackson Thriller in MINT condition $3; $2 each for the books
I also found a really cool black maxi dress with short sleeves and the skirt part is see-through with a sheath slip attached underneath.  Then I went to this resale shop in Hermosa Beach called Karma Clothing and found a black polo mini dress for $8 and a black mini skirt for $12:

It might be hard to tell but it's like a cotton/rayon/spandex blend so it's kind of tight and stretchy and it's really cute with the faux leather and brass button detailing. Again, low quality photo on account of my stupid nail and my not wanting to retake these pictures.

So, anyway, I'd say my thrifting was a success even though I didn't find exactly what I wanted. That just means I'll have another reason to go shopping in a couple of weeks :)  Anyone else have any recent finds they're in love with??

Apartment Becomes Eclectic: Late Edition

Have you ever just wanted to scrap everything you own and just start over?  I don't have that kind of dough but sometimes I like to fantasize about it!!  I'm kind of over the way my apt feels, and have been drooling over looks like these:
darsheel.com: Decorate the Soft Minimalist Apartment
arrenwilliams: dark & masculine
frisson design: soft bedroom
the craft begins || dream home!
apartment therapy
The last photo would probably suit my place the best, although we only have one window in our living room not two. It's just so homey and not frilly at all. Simple and eclectic! I love it.

What's your style??

Janea
